Texture Paste: CC3 Challenge 4 #CC3C

This time the CC3 Challenge is Texture Paste. This is one of my all time favorite techniques, because I like things to be chunky and have multiple layers. I've been playing with the Dreamweaver's Stencil paste looooong before Wendi introduced it. There are so many different fun colors and they come in gloss and matte finishes. For this challenge I felt that it was time to get my Art Journal out again and play. I used the Seasonal Distress Stains, Distress Ink Pads and Layering Stencils from Tim Hotlz.

Here is a close up of all those fun yummy layers. I love that you can't tell which layer came first. Almost like the Chicken vs. The Egg debate, which came first?!

Distress Watercoloring: CC3 Challenge 5 #CC3C

This week my husband and I finally got to get away and take a short vacation for our 10 year anniversary. We went to Michigan and spent the week with my best friend from college, Kim, at her family's cottage on Crystal Lake. It is simply beautiful and inspiring there. The water is so clear and the weather was wonderful. I knew when I got back from vacation that I would have tot many things to catch up on, so I took my traveling Art Box with me to work on the Distress Watercoloring Challenge. It felt wonderful and peaceful to sit in the grass and feel the cool breeze coming off of the water as I stamped and colored.

This is one of my favorite tags that I created beach side using the Distress Watercoloring technique. I love this color palete. It is so easy to work with and seams to be my favorite go to colors.

I love seeing everyone's take on each challenge. There are truly some very talented crafters out there. Thank you Linda Ledbetter for organizing this challenge bi-weekly and a huge Thank You out to Inspiration Emporium for a chance to win a $50 gift certificate just for playing along in the challenge this time.

Altered Burlap Panel: CC3 Challenge 6 #CC3C

I've had so much fun each week playing along with the CC3 Challenges. I'm always working on classes and samples and rarely get to work on projects for myself. So, I've committed/forced myself to do each challenge for myself and not skip a one. I have to admit this week was hard to find motivation to complete the task at hand, since I'm still playing catch up from being on vacation. But I feel like it's going to the gym. If you miss one day then it's easier to miss the second day. So I buckled down and decided to play with some Idea-ology products that I had been hoarding for that perfect project. You know what I'm talking about, we all have those stashes

I loved playing with the "Found Relatives" from Tim Holtz's last release. The vintage pictures are so cute and I don't feel guilty cutting them up and coloring them like I do with my own old family photos.

12 tags of 2014-July

This was one of my favorite tags that I have created so far by following along with Tim Holtz each month on his 12 tags of 2014 challenge. I absolutly love this new Sizzix die with the sea horse and the bubbles embossing folder. I created this tag with lots of Ranger products and Sizzix dies. I followed Tim's technique with the crackle paint on the sea horses and the paint for the tag background and then got bored and of course had to make it my own and change things up. I'm not good at following directions, I have to do my own things. ;)

It's that time again for our annual Breast Cancer fundraising crop for Susan G. Komen Foundation. This is a 3 Day event that will start Friday afternoon and run until Sunday afternoon. As always there will be games, giveaways, Make N Takes, lots of cropping time and food. This crop will be at the store this year in our NEW 3,00 square foot location. Please bring a snack to share. We are looking for 6 foot tables to borrow for the crop. Please let me know if you have any we can use. Thanks

12 Tags of 2014-August

This months tag was all about "Following Your Creative Muse." I have TONS of Halloween themed stamps that have never been used, so for this tag challenge, I thought it was time to get them out and play. I love all of the layers and dimension that Tim Holtz added to his tag this month. Here is my interpretation of what he showed on his August tag this month.

I love how the Tissue tape resists the Distress Stain and lets the stamped image on top really pop. When you are doing this make sure to stamp your image with Archival Ink, other wise your image will smear. I felt that the skull didn't stand out enough on the tissue tape, so I stamped it again on watercolor paper, colored it in with Distress Markers, cut it out and then popped it on top of the stamped image.

The properties of the new Ranger Texture Paste are pretty cool too. I applied the paste through one of Tim's new stencils and let it dry. Then applied the Distress Stain over the area. The paste sucked up the Distress stain and took the color very nice and the Tissue Tape under the paste resisted the Distress Stain, so the textures image really pops.

12 Tags of 2015-January

Here is my version for Tim Holtz's January tag for the 12 Tags of 2015 Challenge. I completed this a few days befroe leaving for CHA so I was pressed for time and pretty much followed his instructions step by step. I did do a little of my own twist by ruffing up the edges of the tag and inked everything in Black Soot Distress Ink and I added a few more stars. I like doing things in 3's. My tag turned out alot darker and I got carried away with the white splatter paint. It made me Happy, I just couldn't stop.

12 Tags of 2015: March

I got busy and forgot all about February's Tag challenge, in my defense it was a short month. ;) I'm in LOVE with the first two colors released for the Color of The Month program and haven't played with them yet, so I thought today was the day to pull them out and create.

Following Tim's lead, I applied varies color of Distress Paint to my craft sheet, spritzed them with water and dragged my tag through the colors. My first attempt was kind of muddy and not very vibrant, so I dried the paint and repeated the same steps over the top of the mud.

Loved applying the embossing powder to the top of the pasted image. Tim recommends waiting for the texture paste to dry completely, I did wait for about 1 minute and got bored. I hate waiting for things to dry, so away with my heat gun I went. The paste bubbled up since it was still wet, but I like it and I'm calling it texture.

Now time for my own twist. I dug around in my spare metal pieces and found some really cool laser cut wood gears that I had picked up at an event 2 years ago, part of a hinge that the other piece got lost and Tim's new phrase stickers.

12 Tags of 2015: April

I really liked the simplicity and the techniques in this months tag. I love that Tim Holtz always teaches a new technique or trick that you might not have thought of. I'm a Ranger U graduate and I try to keep up on all the latest and greatest products, education and techniques for my store and customers and he always seams to surprise me.

This month I loved the effect that you get with misting the water color paper first with water and then giving it puffs of color with the marker spritzer. The colors marbleize very nicely for a muted background base. I also liked using the pumice stone marker around the images to cast a shadow and give it some dimension.

I didn't have the Sizzix dies Tim used, so I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the negative "ART" and the strips to slide the water colored paper behind. The word "Create" was also created with the cameo and I welded the letter together.

12 Tags of 2015: June

June's Tag by Tim Holtz was nice and simple this month, but yet was packed with some great techniques! I'm loving the new Blank Ink Pads, that you can custom make using your reinkers. Now your creativity is limitless. I also love applying ink to the stencil, spritzing it with water and then using it to mono print with.

Here is my versions of Tim's Tag. I pretty much stuck to his original design. I didn't have a real straw, so I die cut a piece of green paper and added glossy accents to give it that plastic look and add a "K" charm.

In this class, Sizzix designer Eileen Hull will show you how to decorate and build a box to hold 3"x4" Project Life sized cards, and also decorate serveral cards. She will share her easy doodling techniques that will make you love your lettering!!! Take your own writing and make it look fantastic using simple tips and tricks on creating borders, frames, alphabets and fillers. Don't stress about writing in your cards, albums and layouts again!

This Sizzix Recipe Card Box is cut from sturdy mat board and assembles in minutes. Dyan Reaveley-Dylusions Artist Returns to Scrapbook-N-Memories

Dyan is Returning to Scrapbook-N-Memories. We are so excited to announce that we have Ranger Ink signature designer Dyan Reaveley with Dylusions products, coming to teach again for 2 extraordinary art journaling days! If you have not had the pleasure of learning from Dyan, you must come join us for some fun amazing classes! Not only is she an amazing artist, but as I have gotten to know her she has one of the biggest hearts and FAB personality!

Mixed Media Artist Dyan Reaveley’s unique eclectic style comes through in her vibrant color combinations of inks and paints, using text as an insightful design element and the clever use of imagery in her artwork. Dyan teaches and demos with Ranger and is known for her creativity with layering color, images and thought-provoking collages.

Dyan owns and operates a teaching and design studio Art from the Heart in Harrogate, in the north of England. Dyan’s mission is to introduce everyone to the fabulous therapy that is art journaling and creating mixed-media art.

Students will appreciate that the materials are included in each class (only thing that we recommend bringing to class is a large package of baby wipes and a roll or two of paper towels). We suggest that you wear clothing that is ok to get stained, or an apron. You may bring food in to eat between classes.

DEANNA HUTCHISON - INTERNATIONAL CANADIAN INSTRUCTOR CARD WORKSHOPS

Scrapbook-N-Memories is sooooo excited to announce that our good friend Deanna Hutchison is finally coming to Missouri to teach 3 different classes of her spectacular 3D layered card classes. Deanna is the designer of the Amazing Layered Christmas card classes we have been doing the past 3 years using Kaiser Kraft collections. Her style is spectacular and I call them my "mantle cards" they are so beautiful!

Deanna is from British Columbia, Canada and has been in the Papercrafting business for almost 20 years. She loves to create all types of projects, from mini albums to printer’s trays, layouts to mixed media! But she really LOVES making cards that are multi layered and FULL of textures, details and dimension. Over the years she has worked with many design teams and companies and currently has over 200 projects published in Magazines and Idea Books, as well as a DVD series that came out several years ago. Deanna was one of the featured instructors on Canada’s Caribbean Crop and Cruise, as well as having been chosen two years in a row to be one of the Main instructors at the Teresa Collins event in Las Vegas—an international event with over 200 students attending each year. In addition, she is also the buyer and co-owner of Clipper Street Scrapbook Co.—a large scrapbook store in western Canada.
Over the past couple of years Deanna has partnered with KaiserCraft to teach her exclusive designs to students from all over the world. Her passion for teaching and sharing, creates a warm, fun and stress free environment in the classroom.

Andy Skinner is an established mixed media artist and tutor who teaches regular workshops all over the world. Andy is an accomplished painter and ceramicist but is best known for his ‘industrial gothic’ altered art, assemblage and mixed media pieces. His unique style is edgy, dark, and enigmatic, pushing the boundaries of the medium with new and innovative techniques. Born and raised in Oxford, England, Andy was interested in art from a young age and the influence of his parents is obvious in his artistic style. His mother, a watercolour artist, encouraged Andy’s love of paints, while his father, an engineer with a knack for constructing amazing toys and gadgets from found objects, inspired the quirky and 3D elements of his altered art pieces. Since giving up his successful ceramics business, Andy has immersed himself in the mixed media world he loves. He works as Executive Creative Consultant for DecoArt Inc, using his expertise to develop their innovative Media line of products, and is also a product designer for Stampendous, Tando Creative, Illusionary Artists and Personal Impressions with his own range of rubber stamps, stencils, mdf and Grey board kits. This Altered Journal is like no altered journal you have ever seen or created before! I am always fascinated with mixed media art. Andy will teach you a plethora of techniques for manipulating acrylic paints into things that look like pitted enamel, old rust and weathered metal, to name a few of his techniques. The coolest thing, is all created with just paints and mediums.

1 day workshop, 6 hours (excluding lunch break)

**Class Kit supplies needed: please bring a basic craft kit including scissors/ cutting mat and Craft Mat/Non-porous surface for a palette.

"The Reset Girl" is coming in November

Scrapbook-N-Memories is super excited to finally be able to announce that we have "The Reset Girl" coming Friday, November 11th-Saturday, November 12th to teach 3 fantastic workshops! Registration is now open. This is the first time Cori has been in the Kansas City area to teach, so we know that seats will fill fast and we will sell out.

I’m Cori Spieker, faith girl, proud introvert, passionate planner girl, and I’m known on social media as The Reset Girl. I gave myself that name 8 years ago when life’s circumstances caused me to lose my job and my home and then my only child moved away…all in the same month. I went from being a full-time single mom, to being a single lady with no direction or idea what to do with myself. I decided to make the best of the situation and push the reset button on my life…and what a blessing that decision has been! I went back to college at age 40, earned a degree and moved to Washington state where I finally found true love after 20 years of being a hopeful single.

Joining the planner community started as a fun hobby on Instagram and inspired my creativity. It also gave me the opportunity to launch a business making planner stickers, crafting kits and fun accessories alongside my husband.

In this exciting chapter of my life, I am a passionate planner girl, inspiring thousands of other planner girls on my Instagram and YouTube channels with my photos, tips, encouraging messages and how to videos. I am the creator and hostess of the ListersGottaList challenge on Instagram, a listing and journaling activity that thousands participate in each month.

I recently collaborated with scrapbooking manufacturer Simple Stories and introduced a new planner collection under the Reset Girl brand. I can’t even call it a dream come true as it wasn’t even something I considered in my wildest dreams! In addition to this beautiful product line, I am also blessed to teach and speak at workshops and events around the world. Encouraging women to use their creative gifts and to become their best selves is my passion.

Are you ready to take a walk deeper in your Christian faith? Take this faith-building course and learn to set up a custom planner for bible study, journaling, faith & vision building, affirmations, and note taking.
